Xinhua News Agency, Kigali, November 15th, by reporter Jill Ji: During an online seminar themed “24 Years of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation: Promoting China-Africa Collaboration” held on the 14th, multiple political figures and experts expressed that since its establishment in 2000, the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation has played a significant role in promoting the development of China-Africa relations and fostering shared prosperity.
The seminar, co-hosted by the Chinese Embassy in Rwanda and Rwandan senior media personality Gerald Mbanda, attracted participation from political figures and scholars from countries including China, Rwanda, Somalia, Pakistan, Nigeria, and Kenya.
Former Somali Deputy Prime Minister Mehdi Guled stated that the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation has played a crucial role in advancing infrastructure, healthcare, digitalization, and other sectors in Africa, providing significant support for the implementation of the African Union’s Agenda 2063. He emphasized that China-Africa cooperation not only has profound economic impacts but also reflects mutual respect and pursuit of common goals.
Chairman of the Pakistan-China Institute, Mushahid Hussain, mentioned that China-Africa cooperation has always adhered to principles of peaceful development, mutual benefit, win-win outcomes, and inclusiveness. The Belt and Road Initiative brings new opportunities for Africa’s development.
Executive Dean of the Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies at Renmin University of China, Wang Wen, pointed out that over the past 24 years, the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation has not only promoted cooperation between China and Africa but also positively impacted global development. It serves as a platform that advances historical progress and provides a solid foundation for the sustainable development of China-Africa relations.
Chinese Ambassador to Rwanda, Wang Xuekun, said in his speech that relying on the platform of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, China has jointly implemented the “Top Ten Cooperation Plans”, “Eight Major Initiatives”, and “Nine Programs” with African countries. This year’s launched “Top Ten Partnership Actions” will elevate pragmatic cooperation between China and Africa to new heights. He indicated that China will continue to work with African countries to implement forum outcomes and promote modernization in Africa.
All participants agreed that the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation is a crucial mechanism for deepening China-Africa cooperation, providing a platform for shared development and setting an example for South-South cooperation globally. Additionally, participants offered suggestions on implementing the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and expanding China-Africa cooperation.
